Orchids are beautiful plants that bring a touch of elegance to any interior. However, it is crucial to choose the right type of pot and substrate to ensure the rapid growth of your orchids without them rotting. Here’s how to create effective orchid pots:

Equipment requirements:

• Transparent plastic pots
• Special substrate orchids (pine bark, perlite, charcoal…)
• Pliers
• Birds
• Water

Steps to follow:

1. Choose the right pot:

Opt for transparent plastic pots that allow light to reach the orchid roots. Make sure the pot has drainage holes to avoid water build-up that can cause root rot.

2. Prepare substrate:

Mix pine bark, perlite and charcoal to create an aerated substrate that promotes drainage and allows air to flow around the roots. Make sure the substrate is well ventilated and dry to avoid rot.

3. Transplant orchid:

Gently remove the orchid from its current pot by taking care not to damage the roots. Detangle the roots and remove the old substrate. Place the orchid in the new pot, ensuring that its roots are well distributed and cover them with substrate.

4. Water with caution:

Water the orchid with water at room temperature until the substrate is moistened. Avoid excess water that can cause root rot. Let the water drain through the drain holes of the pot.
