Guide for growing rose cuttings in water
Roses are undoubtedly one of the most popular plants in gardens and balconies. Their beauty and fragrance make them essential in floral decoration. If you want to spread your roses and get new plants, cuttings in water is a simple and efficient method.
Materials required:
- Rose cuttings about 15-20 cm long
- A clear vase filled with water
- Clean and sharp scissors
- A bright place but sheltered from the direct sun
Steps to follow:
1. Select healthy and vigorous rose cuttings. Make sure they come from healthy and recent stems.
2. Cut the cuttings at an angle of 45 degrees using clean scissors. Remove the leaves from the bottom to prevent them from soaking in water.
3. Fill a clear vase with clean water. Make sure that only the bottom of the cuttings is immersed in water.
4. Place the vase in a bright place but without direct sunlight. The cuttings must be at room temperature.
5. Change the vase water every 2-3 days to avoid algae formation and to ensure better oxygenation.
6. After a few weeks, you will begin to see roots forming at the bottom of the cuttings. Wait until the roots reach a few centimetres long before transplanting the cuttings into a pot with a mixture of soil and soil.
Additional advice:
- Ensure that cuttings remain hydrated throughout the process. Water must be changed regularly to avoid rot.
- You can add a bit of cutting hormone to the water to promote root development.
- Monitor regularly for mould or disease. If symptoms occur, remove the affected cuttings to protect others.
- Transplant the cuttings into individual pots once the roots are sufficiently developed. Place them in a sunny place to promote their growth.
By following these simple steps and taking care of your rose cuttings, you can soon get new healthy plants and enjoy their beautiful flowering in your garden.
