Propagating plants from cuttings may seem complicated, but there is a simple and ecological method to try: using toilet paper! This practical trick will allow you to multiply your plants economically and efficiently. Follow these steps to succeed in your plant propagation:

Materials required:

  • Unscented toilet paper
  • Seeds or cuttings of plants
  • Transparent container
  • Water

Steps to follow:

1. Start by cutting pieces of toilet paper into rectangles of appropriate size to wrap cuttings or seeds.

2. Lightly moisten the pieces of toilet paper with water. Make sure they’re not wet.

3. Place the seeds or cuttings in the centre of moistened toilet paper.

4. Gently wrap the cuttings or seeds with the toilet paper to ensure that they are well protected.

5. Place the pieces of toilet paper containing the cuttings or seeds in a clear container filled with water. Make sure the bottom of the toilet paper is in contact with the water.

6. Place the container in a bright place but without direct exposure to the sun. Cuts or seeds should start to germinate or develop roots in the coming days.

7. Make sure to maintain moisture by adding water to the container if necessary. It is important not to let the toilet paper dry.

8. Once the cuttings have developed roots or the seeds have germinated, you can transplant them into individual pots filled with soil.

This method of propagation with toilet paper is ideal for small plants and delicate seeds. It is simple, economical and allows easy observation of root development. Do not hesitate to try to multiply your plants ecologically!
