How to Push a Manguier from a Bouture in a Coconut

Mango trees are popular fruit trees for their delicious tropical fruit. If you like mangoes and want to grow your own mango tree, you can do it from a cutting in a coconut. Here are the steps to follow:

Materials required:

  • A ripe coconut
  • A mango cutting
  • Fertile soil or compost
  • A large pot
  • A sunny place
  • Water

Steps to follow:

Step 1: Prepare coconut

  • Choose a ripe coconut and shake it to make sure it contains water inside.
  • Drill the three eyes of the coconut with a screwdriver or knife to drain the water inside.
  • Once the water is removed, break the coconut to get two halves. Make sure the hull doesn’t break into pieces.

Step 2: Prepare the mango cutting

  • Choose a healthy cutting of a mango tree with at least a few leaves.
  • Make sure the cutting is about 30 cm long for better growth.
  • Remove the leaves from the bottom of the cutting to facilitate grounding.

Step 3: Plant the cutting in the coconut

  • Fill half of the coconut with soil or fertile compost.
  • Place the cutting in the soil, ensuring that it is straight and piled slightly for a good hold.
  • Add soil around the cutting to support it and completely fill the coconut.

Step 4: Water and place in the sun

  • Water the cutting slightly to moisten, but be careful not to water too much to avoid rot.
  • Place the coconut in a sunny place where the cutting can receive direct light.
  • Keep the soil moist by watering regularly.

Step 5: Wait and maintain

  • After a few weeks, roots will begin to form and new leaves will grow.
  • Continue to monitor watering and sun exposure to ensure healthy growth.
  • Transfer the cutting to a larger pot once it has grown well.

By following these steps, you can successfully grow a mango tree from a cutting in a coconut. Enjoy your own fruit tree and enjoy fresh mangoes right from home!
