A pot of colorful chrysanthemums that I planted from wilted flower branches

Chrysanthemums are perennial and colourful flowers that bring a touch of beauty and life to any garden. If you have recently had wilted chrysanthemum branches, don’t throw them away! You can use them to spread new plants and create a pot of colorful chrysanthemums.

Materials required:

  • Branches of faded chrysanthemums
  • Nutrient-rich soil
  • Flowerpot
  • Water
  • Organic mulch

Steps to follow:

1. Preparation of branches: Select chrysanthemum branches that are still in good condition despite faded. Cut these branches into pieces 8 to 10 cm long, ensuring that they have at least one or two leaves.

2. Planting: Fill the pot with nutrient-rich soil until it is almost full. Place the chrysanthemum branches in the soil by pushing them slightly. Place them so that the leaves are above the soil.

3. Watering: Water generously the planted branches to promote rooting. Make sure the soil stays moist but not wet. Place the pot in a sunny place but sheltered from the strong wind.

4. Maintenance: Monitor the new shoots of chrysanthemums that will appear regularly. If leaves yellow, remove them to promote the growth of new leaves. Add organic mulch around plants to conserve soil moisture.

By following these simple steps, you can give a second life to your faded chrysanthemums and create a beautiful pot of colorful chrysanthemums in your garden. Not only will you save money by spreading your own plants, but you can also enjoy their beauty throughout the season.
