How to Push Roses From Butchers

Roses are among the most popular and popular flowers in our gardens. If you have a rose that you love and would like to spread new ones, stem cuttings are a great way to do it. Here is a step-by-step guide to help you spread roses from successful stem cuttings.

When Collecting Buttons

The best time to harvest rose cuttings is usually in spring or summer when plants are growing. Make sure you choose healthy and vigorous cuttings to increase your chances of success.

Preparation of the Boutures

1. Choose a healthy stem that has not yet bloomed. Cut the cutting at an angle of 45 degrees just below a knot.

2. Remove the leaves from the bottom of the stem to leave about a third of the total length of the bare stem. This will help the cutting to root more easily.

3. Soak the lower end of the cutting into rooting hormone to promote root development.

Planting of Boutures

1. Fill a small pot with a mixture of light and well drained soil. Make a small hole in the soil using a pencil or pen.

2. Gently insert the cutting into the hole you created and gently slice the soil around the stem to keep it in place.

3. Water the cutting slightly to moisten the soil, but make sure you don’t water too much to avoid root rot.

Care After Plantation

  • Place the cutting in a bright place, but in direct sunlight to avoid excessive thermal stress.
  • Keep the soil moist by watering the cutting regularly, but without excess.
  • Watch carefully for new roots. This can take several weeks before the roots begin to form.

Transplantation of Boutures into the Earth

Once the cuttings have developed a good root system, they are ready to be transplanted into the ground. Here is how to proceed:

  • Choose a sunny location with a well drained floor to plant your rose cuttings.
  • Improve the soil and incorporate organic compost to improve its structure.
  • Dig small, spaced holes of about 20-30 cm for each cutting and plant them with the same soil level as the original pot.
  • Water freshly transplanted cuttings to help them settle in their new environment.

By following these steps carefully, you should be able to successfully propagate roses from stem cuttings. Remember to be patient and provide your new plants with the appropriate care to help them grow in their new environment. Good luck and enjoy your beautiful roses!
