I fed so and orchid miraculously flowered for 4 seasons
Orchids are beautiful and exotic plants that add a touch of elegance to any house. However, for many plant lovers, it can be difficult to know how to take care of these delicate flowers. In this article, I will share my personal care experience with an orchid that miraculously bloomed for 4 seasons after adopting a particular method of feeding.
Choose the right type of orchid
The first step to succeed with orchids is to choose the right type for your environment. Some orchids grow better indoors, while others prefer a damper outdoor environment. Make sure you research the type of orchid you own so you can provide it with the right care.
The right location
Orchids need a good amount of light, but no direct sunlight. Place your orchid near a window where it will receive indirect and soft light throughout the day. Avoid air currents and extreme temperatures, as this can damage plant health.
Adapted watering
- It is essential not to water too much an orchid, because its roots are susceptible to rot.
- Wait until the substrate is almost dry before watering again, usually once a week.
- Use fresh water at room temperature to avoid shocking the roots.
The special feeding method
After experimenting with different methods of fertilization for my orchids, I discovered a technique that gave incredible results. I fed my orchids by adding a small piece of banana to water every two weeks.
- Choose a small slice of ripe banana and place it in a container with water.
- Let stand for 24 hours so that the banana nutrients dissolve in the water.
- Use this watering water for your orchids instead of normal water once every fortnight.
This particular feeding method has given amazing results for my orchids. Not only did they flourish, but one of them miraculously bloomed for four consecutive seasons, which was unusual for this specific variety I had.
Monitoring and adjustments
Taking care of an orchid, it is essential to be attentive to the signs that the plant sends you. Monitor the leaves to detect any changes in colour or texture, and adjust your care accordingly. If the leaves start to yellow, it is likely that you water the plant too much. If they become soft, you may need to increase the frequency of watering.
By following these basic tips and adopting a special feeding method such as banana, you can also see your orchids bloom and bloom dramatically. Do not be afraid to experiment and adapt your treatments to the needs of your plants, as each orchid is unique and will react differently to different treatments.
